Democratic Women Should PUMA Try To Save Them?

Kristian Gillibrand voted for the health care plan that no one likes as did Barbara Boxer and every other Democratic Senator. Martha Coakley said she would support the health care plan despite saying she wouldn't in the Primary.
So my question is what is a PUMA to do?
Coakley hasn't voted for anything yet and its premature with her but her loss will cost the Democrats big.
Gillibrand is up for reelection and will more then likely face a Primary. I am hoping that Harold Ford takes her on and wins but if he doesn't take her on or if Obama and women's groups try to keep him on this PUMA is going to blog for the Republican rather its a male or female.
She voted for this disaster despite the fact that its not only unpopular in red states but also blue ones yet she sold her vote for some earmarks. She threw women under the bus and expects to just be allowed to continue serving. Sorry Kristian I tried to help you before and you thank me by passing this anti woman disaster.
I will also be supporting the Republicans against Boxer and any other woman who voted for this disaster.
I think its time that the PUMAs remember we formed saying Party Unity My Ass and we need to take on the Democratic party as it tries to force this horrible bill down our throats.
I am all for electing more women to congress but I don't want nor need mindless women who will just roll over half the population.
So what is a PUMA to do? I will support any candidate that did not vote for this bill rather they are Democrats are Republicans. I just hope the Republicans run more women.

Woman's Equality Day and the Passage of the 19TH Amendment

Today is the anniversary of the passage of the Right to Vote for women. Woman's Equality day is set aside each year to pay homage to all the great women who fought for Suffrage for women. We have come a long way but there is still more road to travel. We have yet to get a woman to the White House. We still have a sexist media out there that vilify strong women like Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin. We still have to worry about earning the same pay for the same work as men. Women are still underrepresented in congress and on the Supreme Court.
Despite the Chris Brown verdict men who assault their wives or girlfriends are given slaps on the wrist. The Secretary of State Hillary Clinton traveled to the Congo to speak out against sexual violence and what happened the media was to concerned with Hillary's exchange with the Congo Student who asked a sexist question or the interpreter did. I guess the media prefers idle gossip to issues of importance to 51% of the population.

Clinton Heads to Liberia to Show Women Power

Hillary heads to Liberia today to show support for Africa's only female leader. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf who faces calls to step down.
Africa's first female head of state has strong support overseas but Liberia's Truth and Reconciliation Commission recently recommended that she be barred from Politics for 30 years and since she is 70 that basicially means forever. They want her banned for alleged involvement in the Country's civil wars between 1989 and 2003.
Clinton made women's rights a large part of her visit to Africa speaking out against rape and women being used as weapons of war in the Congo. She also comforted victims of rape.
In an interview in Nigeria Hillary said "No Country could reach a full stage of development without full participation of women.
If African Women decided to stop working tommorrow, the whole continent would shut down. People would not eat. Crops wouldn't get planted and harvested from a moral perspective we're in the 21st Century all human beings no matter what religion or ideology you reference have the right to reach their God given potiential and to many women in too many parts of Africa are not being fully developed." Clinton told Nigeria's popular talk show host Mo Abudu.
Hillary is still standing up for women and girls all over the world.
She's right America can't reach its full potential UNTIL we elect a woman as President.

Women on the Verge of the Law--Sonia Sotomoyor and Anita Hill

Women have come a long way but we haven't come far enough. Women have still never broken the gender barrier for POTUS or VP and we are seriously underrepresented in both the Congress and the Supreme Court.

What about women in the law profession? How far have women come since the Clarence Thomas hearings in 1992 which resulted in the largest election wins for women in Congress.

I remember the Thomas Hearings and how these Senators kept beating up on this poor woman to protect Thomas another male. The Democrats weren't innocent they were the majority in the Congress at the time and they did nothing to help Anita Hill they let her twist in the wind.

Fast Forward to last week and the Sotomayor confirmation hearings.

Sonia Sotomayor did not suffer in the same way as Anita Hill there did not seem to be a free for all this time and as nominated to the Supreme Court she should be grilled about what she believes and how she plans to vote. Males nominated for the Supreme Court also must go through a tough hearing. I expect nothing less from the Senate.

Senators who were at both hearings did not want another Anita Hill because they still have flashbacks of 1992. Arlen Spector almost lost reelection that year to a woman and so many women were sworn in after Anita Hill that neither the Democrats and the Republicans do not want to look like Sexist pigs.

I wish women would remember the treatment that Anita Hill got in 1992 and stop voting for Roe vs Wade which of course is established law and will never be overturned. This is not the only issue out there for women. We need more female faces in the House and the Senate.
